I'd like to take English Literature, Psychology and German but I have no idea what to take as a 4th option! I have to take compulory General Studies as well. I need recommendations on a 4th subject to take that will have links to my other choices. I have to take subjects i took for GCSE so I have a choice of:biology, physics, chemistry, maths, english language, drama, french, film studies, chinese, italian, art, religious education

  1. Biology fits well with psychology and would make you look like you can do science.

  2. I'd go for a science subject like biology and chemistry but it depends on what you want to do at university. If you're undecided about what to do then still pick a science because  then you have a balance of sciences and arts.

  3. Pick your favourite, the one you were best at or one you might want to do a job in. Do you have to take a fifth? I only did 4.

  4. i say Biology. i did that, and absolutely loved it

  5. Is there a reason you aren't taking English Lanaguage as well as Lit?  You haven't indicated which you enjoy, personally I'd have gone for Film Studies but only you know what you like.

Also, don't worry about whether they fit with your other subjects, A-Levels will only be useful for getting into University, if that is your intention.  Once you have a degree, it won't matter what A-Levels you took.

  6. Pick what you good at and what you enjoy. Or something you haven't learnt about previously that your interested in.

But if i picked one for you I'd go with RE as it'll tie in with Psychology and English.

  7. I've just finished my A levels so I can give you some tips.

English Literature and German are great choices. I have to warn you that Psychology and English Language are generally looked down upon unless they are absolutely neccessary for your uni course choice.

If you've not decided on a uni course then it's a good idea to have a science in there. The order of difficulty from hardest to easiest is Chemistry, Physics and then Biology.

Art will be a truck load of work and not that much credit.

Everyone loves languages so they're a good choice. Chinese will be immensely useful for the future - trust me.

RE is a LOT of essays and again, not enough credit from unis for what it is.

    Hope that helps.

Maths is impressive. If you can show  that you're strong in both maths and english then it'll open many doors for you.

  8. You don't have to take subjects you did for GCSE, most A levels start from scratch anyway. Unless your school is different. I would suggest another language for your fourth option, seeing as your choices seem essay based. However, it may be a very good idea to take physics or maths because that way, if you want to do something science based at uni, you will be well rounded. So maths, if you think you can handle it.
