  1. miso soup is very good! its a tofu soup but the tofu u dont have to eat the broth tastes kinda like chicken noodle soup its very good and the sushi i get is avacado cucumber roll ever since i tried that a year ago its been my favorite food now i cant get enough!

  2. I lived in korea for while with the military.  Try Bulgogi Pronounce Bull-go-gi .  It is a beef dish with rice.  The closest i can describe it is stir fry with out all the veggies.  They also have yachi mandoo  Pronounce Yocky- man- do .  It is a korean pot sticker.  I had other things but don't remember what they were called.

  3. j*p CHAE

  4. Kim chee....cabbage soup.

  5. bibimbap!!  it's rice, veggies, meat, and sometimes a raw egg on top in a super hot rock bowl that will cook the rice when everything is mixed together.  awesome with the chili sauce!!  *drool*

  6. Miso soup is Japanese...and Kimchi is typically spicy pickled cabbage...NOT soup.

In a 'real' Korean restaurant, I'd suggest to go for the table with the fire pit in the middle of it...or they can bring out a portable grill (looks like a camping grill).  This typically is for a larger group of people, but sometimes they'll go as low as two.  Along with the meat, they'll bring out lettuce leaves, a variety of little bowls with Kimchi (cabbage, radish, onion, cucumber...etc.) and some garlic and pepper chunks to put on the grill...along with a really thick dark red paste and a milder brown paste...and of course, a small bowl of rice for each person.

Then for the meat...I'll just give three traditional:

Bulgogi (thinly sliced beef marinated in kind of a sweet soy sauce bbq sauce combo, commonly known as Korean BBQ)

Samgyeopsal (unsalted bacon)...really good, you slice it with scissors and put it on the grill...usually will come with a small bowl with rock salt and sesame oil in it.

So, once you choose the meat to go along with your meal...they'll bring out a big plate of it.  The server will usually get the grill started and cook up a bunch of the meat for you.  Once the meat is ready, you take it and put it on the lettuce leaf, then add anything from the little bowls on the table.  You can combine it however you want but don't put too much on it, because then you roll up the leaf into a ball and shove it into your mouth.  With the different kimchi flavors, the different sauces and the different meats, you can create many different combinations for your meal.

For the third meat, I included it because it's really good, Kalbi (Korean short ribs (ribs sliced through the bone) marinated and typically more sweet than Bulgogi...ordered as a meal by itself (no lettuce leaves and grill).

  7. Main dishes usually get what they're known for its

Kal Bi (bbq short beef rib) very popular.

Meat Jun (beef slices coated in egg batter & fried)

    Fish Jun

    BBQ Chicken

Try their KimChi (Fermented Cabbage) maybe spicy but try it.

Just giving the popular foods thats simple & good to eat.

  8. You HAVE TO try the Korean BBQ (SO crunchy, spicy, tasty, and fun to eat) and bibimbap (hot bowl with tasty food inside!). Be adventurous and try as much as you can.

Miso soup and sushi rolls ARE Japanese... not Korean, although some Korean restaurants serve those dishes.

  9. I thought miso was Japanese, my bad.  the best korean food is the BBQ, really tasty stuff.

  10. Bulgogi, or pulkokee, the spelling may vary by restaurant.  It's a marinated barbecued beef, and it's wonderful.  There's yakki mandoo, which is dumplings, also very good.  Japchae is a stir fried rice noodle dish with strips of meat and vegetables mixed in and is also yummy.  There are many many choices on the menu.  Most main dishes like these will be served with rice and kimchi.  Enjoy!
