Recommended Vacation?

I'm suggesting to go on a cruise for the summer. Are cruises good for vacations? Also:

1. Which region would be good for a destination with adventure, exploring, and leisure? (kinda undecided between caribbean/other beaches & Europe)

2. Do you have to pay to get off the ship when you reach the port(s) of call?

3. How much activities are in a cruise?

4. Do you HAVE to wear formal dressing in formal nights?

5. Which one is cheaper and/or bigger, Carn. or RCI?

6. Which one has more activities?

  1. Dining on a cruise ship is one of the most extravagant benefits to cruise travel. Most cruise ships offer a variety of options from fine dining restaurants to casual dining restaurants with a family appeal. Whatever you are in the mood for, you are sure to find a dining option aboard the cruise ship that suits your tastes. Some cruise ships may have pre-arranged seatings and strict dress codes for their finer restaurants so be sure to read the cruise ship literature carefully or ask a staff member if you have any questions regarding what is suitable attire for the different restaurants aboard the ship.

Another undeniable appeal of cruise ship travel is the ability to visit several destinations in one trip. You may plan a land vacation where you visit several cities or even countries but you will likely have to pack and switch hotels at each destination.

  2. i know that going to yellowstone is an incredible adventure! although, it might not be what you are looking for.

  3. I think cruises are the best vacations, Ive been on a bunch!

You do not have to pay extra to get off the ship. there are non stop activities, theres no way to possibly get bored. you should dress formal, everyone does, its nice and looks pretty in the pictures they take of you in front of he backdrops. Carnival is cheaper, its more of a young singles party crowd. Royal caribbean is more expensive but the ships are bigger, nicer, have more activities and the food is better. Its also more for families. Hope I help, feel free to ask anything else and have a great trip!

  4. Cruises are GREAT! I have been on several, and each one has been a blast.

1- I was in the meditteranian for a couple and it was really nice.  the weather was great, and the destinations were outstanding.

2- You do not have to pay to leave the ship or to get back on.  I have done all of mine with Royal Carribbean and the only thing we had to pay for after tickets was alcohol and souvignirs.  Also, if you're not 21, only 18 to drink on the ship.

3- LOTS of activities.  Not to mention you are typically at a different port of call every day which offers different activities on shore.

4- you do not have to wear formal attire.  There are several places to eat on the ship.  I would suggest taking one formal get-up though in case you decide to attend the dinners in the main dining room.  Its usually the best food!

5- I have only done RCI, but they have several types of ships and some of them are massive.  The price depends on location, and number of days.

6- Again, only RCI, but they have stuff going on all the time when you have a day at sea.  Plus, you should get off the boat at every port or there is no sense in taking the trip!

My family and I have really enjoyed these kind of trips.  They are very relaxing, and everyone can do their own thing at least part of the time.  Hope you have a great trip!

  5. A Caribbean is a very different cruise than a Mediterranean cruise.  The Caribbean is a lot of beaches.  beautiful white sandy beaches with palm trees all around.  Very different than the states.  Around the Mediterranean Sea there are beaches but they have a lot of seaweed in the water.  Besides there is so much to experience in Europe I doubt you will do many beach excursions.  While in Europe I do my sunbathing on the deck of the ship and my exploring in each port.

Carnival is always less expensive than Royal Caribbean.  Royal Caribbean has great food, bigger ships, more activities on board, although you will never get board on a Carnival cruise either.

What I find that in the Caribbean, Carnival is for the younger set and the food is OK when you compare it with RC.  However in Europe you have a very different clientele.  Here are your seasoned travelers, not the real young set.  And  Carnival does a great job in Europe.  Some of the best ports and itineraries, the food is really good and a less expensive price.

Which ever you choose you will have a great time, so book your cruise soon.  The further out from sailing you book the cheaper the price.

    Have a great time!
