  1. Dim Sum in Chinatown - everyone has their personal favorites, but I always recommend Jing Fong or Oriental Garden on Elizabeth Street and Chinatown Brasserie on Lafayette Street.  Wo Hop is also a big Chinatown favorite.  Also, if you have computer access try and score a table at Momofuku Ko, which is brand new and getting rave reviews.

Italian - Little Italy is great to walk around, but the best Italian is outside of that area.  If you do want to eat there, try Puglia, Luna or La Mela.  Also, try Babbo, Supper, Bar Pitti, Del Posto, Felida or Il Mulino.

Posh places for lunch - Per Se, Aureole, Union Square Cafe, Jean Georges, Asiate (great view!), The Boathouse in Central Park.

The seafood place in Grand Central is the Oyster Bar.  Grand Central also has a pretty good "food court" area with Two Boots pizza, Pita/Falafal, Indian, Japanese, Kosher, Mexican, Jrs Cheesecake, Panoteca (great pasta and panini).

You should lalso try:  Balthazar (great for breakfast lunch or dinner!), any of the Bouley restaurants, Nobu for sushi, The Modern for cocktails/dinner, The Palm or Smith & Wolensky for steaks, Spice Market, Tabla...

Enjoy - there is an abundance of good food here!

You can check menus for most of the above at:  www.menupages.com
