  1. It all depends on what you want. You should definitely set aside about $400 or so for a new head unit (also known as a deck) possible one with an aux input or if you have an ipod a head unit that is ipod ready. Then i would get all new component speakers. For these i would get a 4 channel amp (or more channels if you have more component speakers) and power all of them off that amp which will take care of any mid range and high end sound that you could want. Finally i would get 2 subwoofers for the back and a nice mono D amp to power them.

For all of my equipment i have Alpine because i have had great performance with there speakers and head units as well as there subwoofers. I would also recommend Rockford Fosgate, Polk, Kenwood, and Memphis Audio as other very respectable car audio brands.

So i would start with a new deck (if needed you don't have one already) then new component speakers, and finally i would end with 2 subwoofers

*tip: If you are planning to do your install in parts i would have 0/1 wire run from the battery to where your amps will be and then get a distribution block from there on. This will make it easier later and will hopefully save you from having to buy power wire two times.

    hope this helps.

  2. If you want a bad *** system pick up 2 kicker l7 subs for about 700 a box for another 150 and a nice mono d block amp depends on what brand you like i recomment hifonics and mtx. like 300-500  and if you really want better sound replace your highs and power them with a 4 channel amp and buy a deck.

  3. Reserve about $300-400 for the deck if you dont have one...

Suggest going with....Fi Car Audio, and go for the Q subs...probably one 12" sub should suffice...and a nice 1200watt Phoenix Gold RSD 1200.1.

Maybe two sets of RSDC 6.5" component sets....one for fronts and the second for rears.

And then maybe an RSD 500.4 amp....

    Some decent gear there!

Or you can go all Phoenix Gold, and get the RSDC 12" sub...great sub!

  4. I would definitely go with a pretty good sub.  I personally like kicker L7's.  One hit just as hard in my friend's Thunderbird as 2.

Get a big amp to power the subwoofer.  Personally i would go with a pioneer amp rated close to 1200 watts rms.  This way the amp wont have to work hard at all to put out enough power for the subwoofer, giving you crystal clear bass.

Go with a 4 gauge wiring kit that includes rca cables, 4 gauge power and ground wire, speaker wire, and the remote turn on wire.  Make sure it's "true" 4 gauge otherwise there wont be enough power for the amplifier.

If you don't have a deck/stereo/head unit, Pioneer is a good brand to look into.  JBL, and Alpine also make good decks.  Make sure you check out how the controls are and such.  Some are hard to get used to.

For clear highs, i prefer infinity speakers.  Infinity Kappa has amazingly loud and clear mids and highs.  Infinity Reference isnt amazing at highs but it does have some bass.

Make sure you listen to the system before you buy it though to make sure it's what you want.
