Question:

Reconnecting to BT?

I've recently begun to rent a flat which has a BT line installed, but which the landlord has disconnected while the flat was empty. Looking at the BT site it seems like they're wanting £125 just to flick a switch and reconnect it! Is this right, or is this what they charge to actually install the line?If this IS what they are going to charge for reconnection (which is mental), can anyone suggest any cheaper options?

Thanks

  1. Unfortunately I believe that is what BT charges to re-connect a line, and there are no cheaper options as all the lines are owned by BT. The only other possibility is cable if you are in a cable area, but personally I would never go down that line.

Once you are re-connected and once the BT contract period has expired then you could switch to cheaper service providers and the one I use is excellent, in the meantime however you are stuck.
