Record Breaker and My Idea to take advantage of experience at Newcastle in the North Sea Logistics Novices’ Hurdle at Newcastle
The Class 4 North Sea Logistics Novices’ Hurdle is to get hosted by Newcastle over two miles and four furlongs. The lineup assembled for the race comprises of nine four-year and older thoroughbreds for the purse that is set at £2, 209.
Record Breaker, In The Wings’ eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare Overruled, has raced through the 2012 season five times and it was on his most recent outing that Record Breaker raced at Newcastle.
On 17th March, Record Breaker was the 15/8 favourite runner up in the Malones Novices’ Hurdle at Newcastle over two miles. He had Jason Maguire onboard.
The race was won by Rock Relief who led the favourite runner up by an amazing twelve lengths. Settling third in row behind the winner was Smart Ruler.
The reason for being entered as the favourite could very well be his recent improvement in sustaining the performance. He broke into the new season with a third position, went onto sixth, then stumbled a horrifying twelfth but after that both the starts
had him scoring second.
Before the most recent race, on 29th February, Record Breaker was second in the Find Southwell On Facebook Maiden Hurdle at Southwell over two miles.
The race was won by Wordy’s Boy and Record Breaker followed right in after covering the 1 ¼ lengths. Stationing third and fourth were the 7/4 joint favourites, Solaras Exhibition and Donatorio.
Another entry that can come in a surprise is My Idea, Golan’s six-year-old bay gelding out of mare Ghana. All the three races that came his way were at Newcastle, none of them were victories rather two were a miserable seventh and eighth.
The opening race of the season for My Idea was MGM Precision Handicap Hurdle on 7th January at Newcastle over two miles. The race was dominated by the 7/4 joint favourites, Stormy Weather who won the race and Diamond D’Amour who parked in right
after the winner.
Even though he has not won lately but he does have the advantage of being exposed to the race course not just once but three times. Both are winless ever since the season began and are yearning for posting a victory.
