I am attending college this semester in the fall for Communication Arts. I always use to record my video gaming gameplay in standard definition and show it off on youtube. I know have a 65" hdtv but it does not have a video out component, :(.... I use to record off my cheap external capture card which was only standard definition. I would like to record in HD... how would I do so?

  1. Sadly, component video is being phased out becuase it's "insecure". HDTV's are now required to carry an HDMI interface.

I don't know what gaming system you have, or if the latest offerings have component video output or not for gaming, however, if they do, then all you'd need to do is invest in a video capture card that has component input. Most "HDTV" cards are an ATSC/QAM tuner and lack any video input, so watch out for those.
