Record Music to PC??

How would i record some music i play to the PC? with out any expensive equipment.

  1. You could use Audacity - you can't beat the price.

    Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

    If you have a MAC, check out GarageBand.

  3. Yes you'd need a mic if you are singing or want to record an instrument that you can't plug in.  

    Most people who do guitar and sing get an Audio Interface for their computer.

    This is because plugging a microphone directly into your soundcard does not give good quality.  It sounds like a tape recorder at best.  

    An Audio Interface and Mic will run you about $250

  4. He's right. I use audacity as well. Great little program to use and you can use your current sound card to do this. Just go into the program and select the source that you want to copy. Hit record and your done. Hope this helps....
