  1. Are you trying to upload your video to your mac book? or do you want to edit your video? then follow my simple to understand guide on doing that

  2. 1) Open up the "iMovie" application.

    2) Create a new project.

    3) Click the little picture of a video camera where the play, stop, and pause buttons are located.

    4) Select "Built-in iSight"

    5) Click the "Record" button to start and stop recording.

    Have funn :]

  3. With what camcorder?

You have not provided enough information for a concise response.

More detail would be helpful... like what kind of camera, what media it records to, model number, how you are trying to connect... but here goes... If you are using a:

** MiniDV or Digital8 tape based camcorder, you will connect it using firewire (not USB) to import the video. The DV port on the camera connects to the firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link) port on your computer. Your MacBook has a firewire400 port. USB is used only for transferring stills off the memory card or web-streaming (if the camera allows for that capability). MiniDV tape stores in DV and HDV format. iMovie and FinalCut will import with no issues.

** Hard drive or flash memory camcorder, you will use USB to copy the files... like copying files off any other USB mass storage device. You need to go to Apple and download and install StreamClip: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/vi...

If the camera is hidef and compresses using AVCHD, you need the latest iMovie (with the 7.1 update and only the most current FinalCut 2 will work.

** DVD based camcorder, you can take the DVD out of the camcorder and put it in the DVD drive of your computer (if it is a DVD drive) and you will rip the video using something like HandBrake: http://handbrake.fr/

If you do not have a DVD drive in your computer, you will need to get an Analog/Digital bridge

If you only have USB: http://www.pinnaclesys.com

    If you have firewire: http://canopus.com

WARNING: DVD based camcorders have the WORST possible video for editing or uploading.

** VHS-C or other analog (Hi8) camcorder, use the AV cable that came with the camcorder and the Analog/Digital bridges described above.

** Still camera that happens to take highly compressed MPEG2 video, take the memory card out of the camera and use a card reader to copy the video to your computer.

So... if you want more detail... where is the video?
