Record from TV to DVD?

Hey everyone

I wanted to know if its possible to record from TV (Satellite/Cable) to DVD, same as with VHS (yeah, I'm old school lol).

What "equipment" do you need and what materials? (DVD-Rs or CD-rs or what), also can you then watch them on DVD player or on your computer? also, can you only watch them on "region 1" or w/e dvd players? I will be moving overseas soon (Egypt) and that might be a problem.

K thanks anyway

Cheers :D

  1. Well, the easiest thing to do would be to get a dvd recorder, major brands like sony make them.  They work just like a vcr.  However, these are a bit pricey ($200-300).  What I would recommend, if you have the know how, is to install a tv tuner in your computer, these cost about $50 and you could probably fit a whole lot more stuff onto the dvd.  If you decide to go with a dvd recorder, here is a decent one that i found and its fairly cheap http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...

I don't know about the region thing, but if you record using the dvd recorder, you can also play them on the same dvd recorder.
