  1. OK I cant answer all of them, but I will tell you what I do know. As far as money received when signing, that all just depends on the label. The 3rd question- YES you will have to pay back all the recording costs, which will be taken out of the profits of sales right off the top before you see a dime of it. You are also responsible for paying all tour costs, but touring is where you really will see profits, especially early on. Hope this helped a tiny bit.

  2. 1. For an unknown  Unsigned Artist...you'd get paid about $10,000 to make your first Record for the Record Label. That $10,000 is called an "Artist Advance" ( fancy term for loan!)....which you have to pay to the Record Label after you've sold your CDS publically.

    Sony

    Universal Records

    BMG

    EMI

    Chrysalis Records

    Columbia Records

    3. No...that $10,000  the Record Label gave you is to pay for all the Recording, Editing, Mixing, Mastering, Manufacturing costs of the CD process.

    4. I have no idea...I've never heard of them.

    5. Yes....in addition to the Artist advance from the Record Label. I think you also get some more money to buy the gear you need. Not 100% sure on this though....

    Hope this helps...
