Recordable DVDs?

I got Memorex 16x 4.7 Gb. and it works fine.

But ive noticed that there are 1x, 8x etc.

the more the merrier? or is it otherwise? 8x is better than 16x and so?

  1. The 16x means the disc is capable of writing data at 16 times the real time.

    In other words if there's a 2 hour program downloaded to your PC and you record the program to your disc at 16x it would only take 7.5 minutes to accomplish the task.

    It's only better because you could record programs more quickly.

    The actual quality of the picture will be the same as long as you are using the same parameters within the recording process. On most DVD recorders you could fit 2 hours (high quality) on a single disc or up to 8 hours (low quality) and this is the same on all DVD recordable discs.
