On Tuesday 22nd July i sent a letter using recorded delivery. but the weird thing was that the man over the counter asked me to put 3 first class stamps on the letter --- previously i just put 1 stamp on and paid !! will this affect the delivery of the letter --- and how long do you think it would take to be posted . (i've tried using the royal mail website to track my letter but it says that information on my letter isn't available onlie YET!!!).

  1. Postie Answering - No as long as the total price paid was enough to cover postage there should be no problem.

On-line Tracking of recorded items is only possible after delivery has happened.  If the postie attempted delivery but no one answered the door then it will go to the local Callers office (normally at the same Delivery Office the postie works from) and then they have 7 days to collect it from there.

If they have not collected it within 7 days it should be returned to you free of charge but this does take longer than to go through the system.
