Question:

Recording TV to Sony Digital8 Camcorder with A/V cables?

I have a Sony Digital8 Camcorder, everything works fine on it but I can't get the camcorder to record TV, despite hooking it up to the A/V output feed from my satellite receiver and the A/V input on my camcorder. The audio and video are received fine onto my camcorder, when i have it on the playback view setting; but I can not record here; when i switch to the Camcorder setting, the feed goes away and it is to just recording the view in front of my camera ( i hope i explained that good).

Anyway, what is the deal here? I can't find any help on this with the manual I got with the camera. It's a Sony Digital8 Digital Camcorder.

Thanks if anyone can help me.

p.s. it is NOT result of the feed from the satellite being copyrighted shows etc; I know this because I used some home DVDs of ours (without copyrighting) and even these feeds won't record.

PLEASE HELP!

  1. First thing first…

Your TV should have a Monitor out & Audio Out...

I use my Sony Digital 8 too, to record TV...

You should have the cable, the yellow, red & white, this cable will be on the TV going to your Digicam...

And on the other end will be a 1 pin, that will plug on your Digicam [Audio/Video] or ID-2...

Then, go to your Set Up Menu of your Camcorder, go on the 5th icon, that looks like a attache case, you will see the word "AUTO TV" make sure it was ON...

And make sure too, when recording your on VCR mode, not on Camera mode...

Now your ready to copy your favorite TV shows to your Digi8 Tape...

*Note: if you gonna use your DVD player to transfer your Home Video to Digi8, make sure you plug the Yellow, White & Red Pin on, Video Out & Audio Out...
