Question:

Recording games with my Digital Camera?

I have a Sony Handycam with a video out option that i recently bought cables for. The cables allow me to hook up to the VCR and such... but i was wondering how to get is so that the Camera records what's on the TV, instead of what's in front of it. I've been through all it's settings, and have yet to see anything that would be of help.

Is it even possible? Help is greatly appreciated.

  1. Not all camcorders allow for video in using the AV cables. If it is possible, it will be in the manual. Since you did not tell us which Sony HandyCam, it is impossible for us to know.

Typically, the hard drive, flash memory and DVD based camcorders do not allow this AV-in capability and only a few of the miniDV tape based camcorders do allow it - though none of the high definition cams allow it...

From what I recall, ONLY the Sony DCR HC96 allows it... but I could be wrong...

  2. It's possible only with camcorders that can accept analog AV input.  Check with your camcorder's manual.

Here's a list of camcorders that accepts analog AV input:
