Hi:

I have Compaq Armada 450 Mhz laptop.

My windows XP is corrupted. It is automatically re-booting when it starts. It is re-booting in "normal mode", as well as "safe-mode" or "safe-mode with command prompt".

I am booting from CD drive, but CD drive is very weak now, and laptop is not able to boot from CD, because it can't read CD. May be because CD lens is very weak....

I want to re-install windows, so that i can recover my data from hard disk.

There is no floppy drive in my laptop. Only CD have one option for me.

PLS: I have selected CD-drive as first boot priority, Hard-disk at 2nd.

Is there any way to recover data OR re-install windows?

  1. Do not I repeat do not re-install windows. You will lose the items you are trying to restore. If you want to retrieve the data, there are usb to IDE, SATA connections you can get. Pull your hard drive out and use this adapter plug the usb into a running machine. You will see that It will come up as another drive. There you will be able to back up your info.

  2. your best answer is to have it repaired unless u know how to usb boot
