Recovering Tiger Woods will play the Arnold Palmer Invitational
Tiger Woods is recovering at a faster pace. He is confident to play the Arnold Palmer Invitational, scheduled from March 22 to 25, 2012.
The 36-year-old American professional golf player had sustained an Achilles heel injury, while playing the final round of the Cadillac Championship, staged by World Golf Championship in Doral Miami.
He was away from golf since that tournament and is now hopeful to play the upcoming mega event, organised by the US-based Professional Golf Association, at Bay Hill in Orlando.
"I'll be there, don't worry about it," Woods said. "The leg’s good now. I took a couple of days off, got some treatment on it. I got the go-ahead to start hitting balls [Friday] and start ramping up and get ready for Bay Hill".
He further said, "I’ve been down this road before. It’s not a fun road, but this time I decided to do the prudent thing and not hurt it like I did the last time".
Woods is aiming to secure the Masters victory this year and the Arnold Palmer Invitational will serve as the final tune up before the major event.
He does not want to miss both the tournaments, as since January his performance has improved.
“I have to be smart and look at the big picture,” Woods said. “The Masters is coming up. Last year I was not prudent about pulling out when I should have and I missed two major championships”.
He is doing his best and finished several tournaments impressively in the current year. Similarly, he wants to continue the enormous scoring trend, by playing the maximum number of tournaments in 2012.
Woods is a 14-time major champion and is striving hard to beat Jack Nicklaus' record of 18-major wins.
He has not won any title in almost three years. Now he highly desires to end such an unimpressive winless time period.
The field of the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Masters are not easy to compete. Woods has to be in his full form and fully recovered before he can tee-off at Bay Hill Club & Lodge.
The Achilles heel injury may become a hurdle between him and his appealing strokes. Hence, he has to show some extra efforts on the course.
