Recovery from Achilles Tendon: Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs still insists on 2012 return – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ injured linebacker, Terrell Suggs, has once again issued a self-assuring statement about his return from an Achilles tendon injury to action this season, pleading his fans and supporters to be patient and optimistic about it happening at
some point.
Terrell had torn his Achilles tendon in controversial circumstances during the offseason and since then has remained on and off about the hopes of comeback this year.
Earlier, he set himself the deadline of November (2012) to return to action, but later admitted it would be very difficult for him to fully rehab by then.
Since his first statement, he has insisted he believes he can play this season but declined to give a firm comeback timeline. He told the ESPN "NFL Live," that the fans should expect him coming back on the field some time later in the season.
He said:
"Just be optimistic that you all will see me playing this year.”
He is upbeat about the recovery process and said:
"It's going great. I'm in good spirits, and I like the progress that I'm making. I came out of the boot last week, so I'm just walking right now and doing muscle strength."
Interestingly, Suggs’ latest recovery and return hopes are not backed by an independent opinion, particularly of his doctor, and the entire situation remains down to his ambitious hopes only.
It can be due to the reason that the players are unable to assess their situation in case of the tendon injuries in realistic and exact terms and in spite of the show-off of their optimism the return to action is often delayed.
This is something Baltimore Ravens’ head coach, John Harbaugh, has duly pointed out at the time the player spoke about his comeback for the first time about a month ago.
Although Suggs has claimed he will prove his critics wrong, recovering and rejoining the squad by November will be very difficult indeed.
Yet he remains confident and optimistic, which in any case is good for the player. The phase of recovery from injuries is often the most depressing time for players and the situation can sometimes results in drastic loss of confidence.
Suggs, meanwhile, has also insisted he was injured while doing conditioning workout and refuted the impression that the injury had come about while playing basketball, as claimed by a majority of media reports.
