Recovery from cancer: Indianapolis Colts players throw support behind ill Chuck Pagano – NFL News
An increasing number of players have shaved their heads to show their support to their ill coach Chuck Pagano who has been hospitalised to get treatment for leukaemia.
The latest amongst the shaved players’ is quarterback Andrew Luck.
Chuck has recently been diagnosed with the cancer and had a first round of chemotherapy. It is encouraging for the team to note that the first phase of the treatment is successful and the disease in remission now.
The coach, as a matter of fact, visited the team during their triumph over the visiting Miami Dolphins last week, but was only able to witness the spectacle from coaches’ box.
All members of the football community have wished a speedy recovery and good health to Pagano and shaving their heads is a unique gesture of the support from the players.
Apparently, the ill coach has been fighting the disease very well and sure gets boost to morale through such the actions done by the players.
Bruce Arians, who has replaced him on a temporary basis, has often spoken high of his boss, and has been leading the team successfully in his absence. The Colts are already beyond last year’s pathetic record and on the way to a possible playoff opportunity.
Arians while pointing out at the absence of the coach has dedicated the team’s victories to Pagano. He in fact was the first person to break the doctors’ encouraging opinion that Chuck was fighting well to beat the disease and was on the verge of full recovery.
The makeshift coach earlier was almost in tears when the news of Pagano’s illness first emerged. Since then he has been working hard to take the side to respectable results.
Andrew Luck is leading the team from the front and so successfully. He has already got past the record of the highest 432 yards achieved by any offensive players in a game. He finished the last game with a total of 433 yards.
