Recovery from foot surgery: Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub aims for return in training camp-NFL News
Houston Texans’ star quarterback, Matt Schaub, expects to rejoin the squad at the training camp prior to the start of the regular season on September 05, 2012.
Schaub said to be well on the schedule of his recovery from a right foot injury, which made him miss six games in the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season.
He is confident of returning to the side well before the start of their next season campaign. Texans started their voluntary offseason activities from Monday, April 16, 2012, without the quarterback.
The player had a procedure a week earlier to get pins and screws removed from his foot and is on the healing and rehab process with a higher amount of confidence.
Schaub who was replaced by another quarterback, Matt Leinart, who has recently been released by Texans, and will be leading the team’s offence, which also has a rising star, T.J. Yates.
Yates, while playing at Schaub’s place, helped the side to win its first-ever divisional title and claim a berth into the playoffs, that too for the first time.
He remains optimistic about getting more opportunities at the starting line in spite of his pleasure over working just behind Schaub.
Yates has been backed by veteran Jake Delhomme and Jeff Garcia, who were signed by the management last year.
Their status is not clear for this year, so far. They will probably be playing at the third and fourth positions, respectively.
The Houston Texans are coming out into the 2012 NFL season as the Super Bowl contenders and the standards are going to be quite higher for them this year.
It is not going to be an easy ride for them given that a number of veterans such as Mario Williams have already deserted them to join other teams.
In spite of addition of new players such as Bradie James, former Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker, the quality of the talent remains exposed.
Furthermore, they are likely to be given tough competition by other teams in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division.
Almost all sides in the division have gone through massive changes and are aiming to come out as more competitive outfits.
