I have been accepted to U.S Navy today. I am going to be shipped out for boot camp next spring. I am wondering what do i need to know to get through the bootcamp.

How long is the bootcamp? my recruiter told me 2 month.

How many Push Up and Sit Up do i need to be able to do by the end of the training? I went online and found out is min of 58 situp and 47 push up respectively.

Are the foods there atleast decent enough?

am i able to hold off job training until end of my college? (right now i am a junior in college)

My contract is 4 year plus 1 year (with 5000 dollar signing bonus), is it renewable?

  1. Boot camp is the easiest part in the navy its 2 months of pting 3-4 times a week studying and taking test on multipal things. The food was ok when I went through boot, but I hear from the new recruits coming out that the food is great. Just keep you mouth shut and dont back talk anyone. They arnt aloud to hit you so no problem there. If i were you You should learn all your general orders and how to identify a petty officer, chief and what not. eveything can be found online dont forget you have 2 min to do push up, 2min to do sit up, and also a 1.5 mile run at the end of boot camp so start training now if you cant do any of that. Then after its all done you get to go to the nex and eat regular food. You can renew you contract with the navy you might not get a huge bonus but that all depends on your rate and rank. Study your rate hard to make rank and you wont have to many problems.and I dont understand your off job training question you can take collage courses yes but its hard to on a ship out in the middle of the ocean.Have a great day and good luck.

  2. In regards to another post, the Navy does not "own you".  Until you take the oath of enlistment (which is usually done the day you leave from MEPS) you can change your mind and not join.  If you are wanting to finish college first, then I suggest you talk to your recruiter about this.  If you get your degree, you will be able to join the Navy as an Officer.  This would involve a lot more money in the long run.

As far as your current enlistment bonus, it is not renewable.  The money should be paid to you once you complete your "A" school training.

  3. Bootcamp is approx 8 weeks, longer if you fail at your PRT..ability to run 1.5 miles in your allotted time, push up/sit up standards...or if you get in trouble and get set back a week or more.

the number and the amount of time, vary by s*x and age

if youre planning to finish college, then you shouldnt have enlisted..but once you have a ship date, youve signed a contract and the Navy owns you..you need to talk to your recruiter ASAP

you will get bonuses as you spend time in the Navy, some rates are more needed and they get bigger bonuses to sign new contracts and extend your time, my husband got a 35,000 to sign for 6 more years
