Question:

Recyclable razor heads?

I am currently using venus breeze razors, but since I'm running out of replacement heads, I decided I should try to find a more environmentally friendly razor. I am aware of the Preserve razors, but I am not totally satisfied. I understand the handles are recycled and recyclable, but it's not the handles that I go through as often. It's the heads. Are their heads recyclable also? Or is there another razor that has a recyclable head and handle? Or is there a more green way of removing hair besides shaving? Oh, and please don't say, "yeah, you can just not shave." Thank you!

  1. I'm not sure, I only know of the Preserve ones. I checked out your site though, its very good! Good for you for making a difference at such a young age. Just imagine what you can do when you're older!

I do know of this site that talks about different products and ways to live green. They post a new one every day, maybe they'll cover recyclable razors one of these days! http://easygreenlife.blogspot.com/

    Good luck!

  2. The blades are difficult to recycle because they are technically mixed content. They are also light weight so not many will want to take the time with them. Check with a steel recycler in your area if they will take them.

  3. you might try dry shaving...no water,no soap.  Saves on water(Im sure you're concerned with that too)..dry shaved in the old days in the Army. Yea, it hurts, but aren't you willing to go through a little pain to prove a point? Or ya just wanna.. 'partly' prove it?

  4. We have a double edged safety raser that I bought at an antique store and we buy the blades at Walmart.  This produces much less waste as the blades are only made out of a little bit of metal.  It is much cheaper, and also give a closer shave.  Both my husband and I use it, and I can't believe how supperior it is now that I have switched.

  5. I use an electric razor, have used the same one for 4 years and only need to recharge it once a week or so.
