My villege is hard to get in touch with, but I live in Lindenhurst, but in general; for those of you who recycle, is that acceptable. My bin says glass and plastic recycling, but I think it is becasue it is an old bin, made before they had the plastics and my town does not give new ones.

  1. where i'm from you can, the guy just throws it into seperate little spots in his truck.

  2. well I'm a Packaging major... so I have a lil' knowledge about this.  Yes you can do that but, only if your recycling collection point separates the glass from plastic.  I'm pretty sure your facility sorts them out, if they have bins labeled for both materials.  That means they sorted plastic from glass before, and they probably still do.  If they didn't, they would let you know.

  3. You should check with your local recycling collection office.  If they have mixed stream collection, you only need one container and can put everything all together.

  4. Yes it goes in the same.

  5. Depends on your  towns arrangements with the nearest recycle center.

I drive an automated recycle truck and we have single stream collection which means eveything goes in 1 container...Glass,plastic bottles, cardboard and paper.

  6. No, we can't put plastic with other material here in Trowbridge.  The Recycling programme doesn't include plastic and we have to take it to the local Recycling Centre.

  7. Just call them up and ask for a copy of the recyceling rules for your town. In my town we put plastic, glass and, newspaper in the same bin, but every town is different.

  8. It really does vary a lot.  Looks like where you live they go together though.  Check out this link: http://www.villageoflindenhurst.com/vill...

  9. Yes I am pretty sure you would be able to put plastic bottles in the same bin as the glass and cans.
