  1. No. It depends on how you are doing it . I compost all the green and brown waste. This will fertilise my vegie garden which supply all my vegetables consumption . This means no support for supermarket which sell food being transported , prepacked and package material required disposal . On the other hand , growing vegies is carbon neutral .

  2. this is most definitely not true.

some basic material industries now use a substantial part of their raw materials from recycled materials - glass, aluminum and paper are the most outstanding.

a sizable part of organic garbage is reused as fertilizer, and this has a significant impact on the amounts of mineral fertilizers, such as phosphates, that are mined every year, and on their price.

  3. i dont understand how you come to that idea. plastic is made from petroleum if we recycle plastic than we are using less oil to make new plastic. same with metals if we recycle cans than we mine for less metal. plus less ends up in the landfill

  4. No.  The government should make it easier for people to recycle items.  They should provide some free services.

  5. No.  Renewable resources and sustainability initiatives are helpful.  Some types of recyclables have been discontinued because there is no market for it or it is too expensive but anytime we can keep waste out of our landfills it's a good thing.  The cost of maintaining landfills, landfill fires and air monitoring, is very expensive - that's why there are some states that provide incentives for recycling.

  6. Just think of the pollution another fleet of smog-belching trucks emits to pick up recycling - every week in every town.

I'd say this alone eliminates any environmental benefits to recycling.
