My recycling center takes:

Newspaper,

magizines,

catelogs,

white computer paper,

mixed paper

What is mixed paper. I have notebook paper, computer paper, colored computer paper, sticky notes, ect to recycle. Do I have to sort each kind into a seperate pile to recycle?

Also I have a huge stack of Soap Opera Weekly "magizines" that I need to get rid of. I don't know which they fall under though. The paper isn't waxy like magizine pages, it feels more like newspaper or paper. Where do I put them?

  1. if it feels like newsprint than put it with the newsprint many recycling centre that take the paper tell you the types our road side picks up the paper and its all mixed together so we don't need to separate it. other could mean cardboard and box board {cereal boxes}hope that helps keep up the good work

  2. Instead of throwing out or recycling magazines directly, donate them to a library, or start a magazine exchange. That way many people can read them before energy is expended to make them into something else. It can be as simple as you and a couple of friends each getting subscriptions to different magazines, then once in awhile you just switch stacks with each other, and so on. Or it could be a "drive" with a school, or you could just take them to a doctors office...they always need new things to read!

My Dad was great about taking all kinds of newspapers, books, magazines and redistributing them to everyone who visited. We all got the benefit of a new grocery bag full of reading materials sorted based on our individual tastes. We kept track of one book, and over 23 people that we knew of read it before it eventually fell apart.

  3. I donate all my magazines to a local hospital for use in their waiting rooms and even patient rooms.  This may be a great use of those Soap Opera Weekly magazines you have.

  4. Pretty much, office paper is high-grade and everything else is mixed, and considered low-grade. If you mix office paper in with the magazines, it's not so bad, just improving the batch, but not visa-versa. It's best to keep office paper separate from the other stuff, which can be mixed.
