Recycling Plastic #6 - where?

I have hundreds of plastic reels used to ship copper wire on. I need to find a place that will take them and recycle them for free. I don't want to send them to the landfill.

HELP!

  1. Plastic #6 (polystyrene) is not often recycled due to it's low value.  Do you have a baler on premises that could bale the reels?

I don't know how big these reels are, but unless you have 1/2 ton or more, it probably won't be possible to recycle them in the traditional sense.  Will the wire manufacturer take them back for re-use?

  2. go to www.earth911.org type in the item you want to recycle and your zip code. This should bring up a list of recycle centers in your area that will take the item.
