Question:

Recycling Window Sashes?

by  |  earlier

I have about 60 window sashes (wood frame with glass and grills) that I'm replacing with newer sashes but was wondering if there are any recycling possibilities for the old sashes. Hate to take them to the landfill but haven't been able to find any suggestions from the manufacturer or County Public Works on how to recycle them.

Thanks for any ideas,

Mark

  1. A reclaimation yard may be willing to take these off your hands, and depending on the age and style may even be willing to give you something in return.

  2. Hi,

There is a place that would love to have them, Habitat for Humanity Store on Altama Ave. at Community Road. They have a lot of used building supplies and other stuff they sell to help build new houses. I'm sure they will pick them up too. I am sorry that County Public Works did not know this. I don't know the store's phone number, but Habitat's office number is 265-7455. I'm sure they will have it.

  3. you can always list them on freecycle. i used old windows to make a green house and also on my cold frames. the suggestion came from a gardening show so there could be people that are looking for windows for one of their projects.
