Does England recycle all plastic? If you know it does where can you go to recycle it? Does your council (if in England) provide plastic recycling facilities?

  1. Yes plastic bottles and tubs etc go in a pink sack together with paper, cardboard, tins etc, and collected from all houses and flats  fortnightly.  You can of couse take it yourself to a recycling site if you wish. Only polystyrene not recycled I think or   meat and fresh food trays and wrapping like plastic bags

  2. no it doesnt

however, recycling plastic is just as bad as not - the only exception is that it provides local councils with revenue when they sell it as raw material

it's better to use no plastics at all in packagin etc - and use sustainable goods - not because of all this 'global warming' malarky - but because of the damage plastics have on ecosystems etc.

  3. Most of it,they have a problem with plastic bags and nappies, most supermarkets are starting to phase bags out and encourage a "bag for life".

The council come round once a fortnight and take away plastic, glass and tins from our sml Green box.Lots of areas have recycling banks,on car parks in various places.

  4. In our authority we have community recycling points for plastic bottles (minus lids which are a different plastic) and a skip provided at the local recycling facility for all other plastics including yoghourt pots etc. Old plastic plant pots are now being collected for recycling at the local Woodvale gardening centre.

Recently we've also been able to recycle tetrapaks via a facility at the local supermarket.

Local authority is also handing out free cloth shopping bags to reduce reliance on plastic supermarkiet shoppers.
