I would like to recycle aluminum cans. I don't believe there is a recycling center in my area. What can I do with them? Where can I take them?

  1. I don't know where you live  but the cans are bringing .70 a lb right now where I work.  We recycle all kinds of metal and we are located at 1000 N. Houston in Fort Worth, approximately 10 blocks north of the downtown courthouse off N Main St. and 1 block west of N. Main.  Our telephone number is 817/626-7033.  If this is not close to you call your local school or church and ask if they recycle and donate them.

  2. I concur with all of the answers: you should do research via contacting your local government, internet, and just talking with others.

  3. My wife Bo, and I use OmniSource in Auburn.  1915 S. Wayne St  phone 925-4168.  You'll get about $3.75 per 30 gal trash bag or about $0.60 per pound.

  4. Check with your local authorities, or "trash" services.  Ask if they have a program for Recycling -- I'm surprised you don't already have this since the trash companies make $$$ off this, but you don't, but it they right thing to do.

You may have to haul you cans somewhere.  Here, some local Fire Depts. have trailers outside to recycle can to help support them.

Just check in your local area, call different agencies and recyclers.   Heck, I remember when you got 5 cents per can you took back to the grocery -- they stopped this for sanitary reasons -- so now they just go to the curb once a week.

BTW, if I recall correctly, each recycled can saves 20 pounds of coal.

Recycle all cans and bottles, and most plastics are also recyclable.  Just Call your local Trash collectors or County.

And, Thanks for being "green" and recycling.

  5. Check http://www.earth911.org -- type in your zip code to search for recycling centers nearby. You might be surprised.

  6. check in the yellow pages for recyclers and scrap yards.  Any metal scrap yard will take and usually pay for aluminum cans.

I used to collect cans on Saturday after a sporting event and use the money to pay for Sunday brunch  for the family out.
