Recycling appliances that can't be charged any more.?

I have electric scissors and an electric broom that can't be charged anymore. Nothing happens when they are plugged into their charger. How do I repair these or do I have to throw them away?

Take them apart, ussually the battery packs are "custom" but are ussually just AA or AAA rechargeables welded together and shrink wrapped.

Might require some electrical skills to do so.
