  1. it is souped into a mush then run trough filters to remove glue plastic and metals, then this soup is called occ old corrugated cardboard new fibers are introduced  then new paper cardboard is laid, when dried and rolled another machine grabs 3 rolls one is folded to make the middle glued with rollers and sandwiched between the other two layers to make cardboard again. it can be stored as layers or rolled up again. depending on the future use of it.

  2. The tape is probably just mashed in with the cardboard. i mean, if you look at the cardboard to tape ratio, there isn't that much tape.

  3. If you yourself are recycling cardboard boxes, you have to take staples and tape off.  From the general public, recyclers only accept flat boxes.  If you've ever pulled tape off a box you would notice that it takes part of the paper on the box with it so there would be no sticky tape residue.  How they do it with corp and business I have no clue.  I myself have seen cardboard recycle containors outside business's and they just throw the whole box in there.  I would venture to guess that the recycling company probably has some type of process where they soak the cardboard and it removes or separates the residue.
