  1. The first answerer is correct and I'd like to add that certain kinds of substances come from resources taken directly from nature--paper from trees, metal from the ground.  Not only does the initial accumulation of these resources often cause toxic by-products to be leached into the surrounding environment (metal mining is one of the most toxic to the environment), but it also can destroy habitat, and use up resources that can't be replaced.  Recycling, especially paper and metal helps reduce the initial destruction of the environment by using what we already have.

  2. By recycling (re-using and repairing),  we make things last longer. That means less raw materials and energy are needed to make new things. Using less raw materials means energy is saved during extraction or raw materials  and manufacturing processes. Energy = greenhouse gasses.

It  reduces pollutants being used during the manufacturing process.

It also means less waste is put into landfill sites. The biggest problem with land fill is that they are filling up and taking up land.  They also produce methane as organic matter breaks down, and methane is an even stronger greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide!

  3. Recycling protect the environment because non-biodegradable takes a hundred years to be destroyed. If you recycle, you can use the thing you recycled for your whole life. Recycling will really help the mother nature grow into a new one again. Trust me. I'm a green earth saver.

I know the link I'm going to give you will be childish,  but it will help you:

  4. land fills are becoming full. When we put energy into land fills, we are being unwise. It is one of the reasons gas, food and utilities are on the rise. Soon I hope you can learn more at CoolingEarth.org about recycling but for now just look up California can be carbon neutral

  5. Mother nature has been recycling for millions of years. The water cycle

The CO2 to O2 that the plants do for us...

  6. go to this website.

  7. recycling means we throw less away.

that means less waste, which protects the environment.

it also means less neeed for new products. fewer factories will be needed. less factories= less polution and less global warming. That protects the environment.

just trying to help, this may not be the best ans.
