I live in Fort Wayne, IN and I'm not sure if our city/state has a program where you can turn in things like glass bottles, magazines and aluminum cans for money? I used to get a pretty good chunk of cash for my recyclables in Ohio, and I miss the extra money and I hate to feel like i'm not doing my part...

  1. I love your radio station WOWO used to listen to it as a kid in Northern Ontario when we were camping. If you pay a deposit on it cash it in for the coin no deposit put it into the curbside bin, aluminium can are about the only thing you can get paid for by the pound call first to see what else they may accept

  2. According to http://www.earth911.org Fort Wayne, IN has a curbside recycling program. There are also several drop-off sites throughout the town.

There is also a recycling plant in Decatur, IN (Adams County Recycling Plant, 1570 West 450 North). I assume you may drop off recyclables for cash at that location. I'd call to make sure first though.

Check out http://www.earth911.org ...you can search for your city/state and it will list all the places that have recycling in your area.

  3. Don't forget that you're still "doing your part" if you're not making money off it.  Aluminum pays off far better than other recycle-ables in terms of the costs of mining more vs. recycling, so it's surprising that you're able to get paid for those other items anywhere!
