  1. go to www.earth911.org. You should be able to locate a local recycle center and get a list of what they will accept.

  2. I can understand your confusion.  Their website does not come out and say which plastics are recyclable by number

They do not accept Plastic #6 which is polystyrene or Styrofoam.

Although they can considering adding that soon.

From the Frequently Asked Questions, we can figure out that they do not accept Plastic #6.

"Will the City add new items to its recycling program?

Plastic film is one of the types of material the City anticipates adding to the program. Plastic film may include grocery sacks, retail store sacks, bread, sandwich and bulk food bags, dry cleaning bags, diaper outer bags and frozen food bags. Polystyrene (e.g. Styrofoam packaging, clear deli/salad bar clamshell containers, meat trays) is another material the City is working to include in our recycling program."

My guess is that they accept Plastics 1-5 but you can contact them to verify.
