I have been recycling for the longest time, and been saving loads of these poland spring water bottles. Now I want to get rid of them and recycle them but it says that they have to be recycled in main on them (ME 5c Refund), but I live in massachusetts and its quite a long drive there, I want to know is there another way to send them in like by mail or something? If so, please explain

  1. If you are purchasing them in Massachusetts then they are not charging you the CRV, and you can take them to a local recycler.

    However if Maine is like California, they buy the plastic bottles back by the pound and not for the 5c deposit.

  2. just put them in your regular recycling - like with your cans and paper goods.  you won't get the 5 cent deposit back (but you didn't pay it when you bought the water either).  unless you need to go to Maine for something else anyway, i wouldn't bother driving there.

  3. You can probably call the company and ask them? There is usually a 800 number on the bottle. Besides, they don't know who buys them there and who doesn't. I think cities who do that because they want to make sure they're recycled and the city stays clean :}

    Good Luck
