Red Bull's driver Sebastian Vettel linked with team due to key personnel: Formula 1 News
Red Bull’s driver Sebastian Vettel revealed that his decision to stay with the reigning champions was linked to a number of key personnel in the team, who also had their contracts renewed. There were a lot of speculations that Vettel would not be a part
of Red Bull for long, but the young German extended his deal with the team until 2014, just before the start of the current season.
Vettel's association with Adrian Newey was considered as a key factor in his tie with Red Bull. However, the youngest ever Formula 1 champion stated, “Adrian is one of the most important people in the team, but you ask about everyone - how many years are
left in their contracts, whether they are happy, etc. I wanted to lengthen my contract, but not in a completely different team.”
Commenting on his future with Ferrari, Vettel said, “For me Ferrari is a legend: one day it would be an honour for me to have my name on the list of Ferrari drivers. But that doesn't mean I want to go there now: I'm happy where I am and this is why I've
renewed for a couple of seasons.”
The 23-year-old declared Ferrari as 'special' and said that he keeps on talking about the Italian team too much because of being asked a lot of times about it. Although Vettel’s extension with Red Bull ended the rumours of his shift to Ferrari, time will
once again give birth to such speculations.
Only time will reveal whether what does the future hold for Vettel, but he has enjoyed his stint with Red Bull until now. The young German had a tough time last year, but managed to claim the title after winning the last race in Abu Dhabi. He seemed to have
learned from his mistakes from the previous season and got off to a tremendous start to the 2011 campaign.
Vettel dominated the inaugural race of the current season in Australia, winning the race by a comfortable margin of 22 seconds. He continued the winning ways in Malaysia, but managed a second place finish in China, ending his winning run of four straight
victories.
