Red Bull Extreme Sailing dominates on opening day of the 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 7
Roman Hagra’s Extreme team on Red Bull Extreme Sailing sailed up to the mark on the opening day of 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 7 in Nice, France. The Red Bull Extreme 40 yacht scored 35 points at the conclusion of Day 1 under light winds to secure leading
position of the 11 boat Extreme fleet.
Red bull Extreme Sailing crew comprising of Roman Hagara, Hans Peter Steinacher, Will Howden and Craig Monk showed impressive form to win three out of four races on the day, to gain the leader board place. Skipper Red Bull, Hagara was quite delighted over
the crew’s form from the very start of the event and believes the hard work they have put will last until the end.
Winds over Bay of Angels allowed open waters to the teams to have a smooth sail. However, the breeze was not powerful enough for sailors to make a fast run on Mediterranean waters but despite that, contestants enjoyed four complete races on the opening day.
Currently, three victories on the first day is a bonus opportunity for Red Bull Extreme Sailing, as it will be their strong point as the tournament proceeds.
On the other hand, Red Bull team is just four points ahead of local favourites, Groupe Edmond de Rothschild, who finished second on Day 1 and can be a tough challenge for the Red Bull team. Hagara’s crew must pull up their socks from the very beginning to
retain the leader board position.
