Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver Mark Webber happy ahead of the Australian Grand Prix
Red Bull’s Mark Webber has shown some emotions over the Australian Grand Prix, as the Bahrain Grand Prix is cancelled. The first race of 2011 Formula 1 season will be the Australian GP, the home town of Webber. The driver seemed concerned after all the tension
developed by the Bahrain GP and hoped that the Australian GP will lift the spirits of the Formula One world and will bring everyone back to the grid.
Webber said, “It's a real shame that we missed out on Bahrain. It has been good to us in the past and hopefully they will get on top of everything out there shortly, So on to the next one, which happens to be in Australia. It's back to the good old days
isn't it? It always used to be the season-opener and it's a sensational place for it."
Most of the Formula 1 teams are unhappy due to missing out the Bahrain GP, as they felt the need for more practice with the Pirelli tyres and the other installed functions before the starting of the season.
With regards to Webber’s scoring history, Melbourne is the place where he scored the first points of his Formula 1 career and finished in the fifth spot on his debut in 2002.
This season confirmed first race brings pleasure for Webber because he is still looking forward to his home crowd. The foremost duty of Webber is to fulfil his teams’ expectations with a significant win at the Australian GP.
Webber added that the Melbourne race might become a big attraction for most of the tourists and the interest for the race may extend their stay there. The track conditions will be quite different than that of Bahrain.
"I don't think the extra two or three weeks will make a huge difference to the championship, It might give someone or some teams a bit more time to get their house in order for the first race but also the guys that are in good shape are polishing and sharpening
their knives pretty well," He said.
As Webber prepared for the coming race, he commented that every grand prix of the season will be very interesting, due to the return of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System and the strategy of the new Pirelli tyres.
The Australian is looking forward to his successful season for the Red Bull team, as he drove well over the pre-season tests. Webber’s fans are very excited for the race and it will be very interesting to see how he manages to cope with the pressure of competing
with all the other drivers in Formula 1 at his home race.
