Red Bull Racing and Mercedes AMG confirm plans for Mugello test – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing and Mercedes AMG have recently confirmed their plans for the three-day in-season test which is to be held at Mugello circuit.
Mark Webber of Red Bull will be testing RB8 on Tuesday and Wednesday morning while his teammate, Sebastian Vettel will be behind the wheel for the remaining test.
On the other hand, Mercedes have declared that they will split the first day’s run between their pair of drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.
Moreover, Rosberg will run the car W03 on Tuesday morning while Schumacher will drive in the afternoon.
The seven-time world champion will be running the car on the second day before his compatriot who will end the test on the last day.
Red Bull are currently leading the constructors’ championship with 101 points ahead of McLaren. Furthermore, Vettel is on the top of the drivers’ standings in the season so far.
The two-time world champion secured second podium finish in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia after starting the race from 6th grid position. However, he could not score even a single point in the second race at Sepang International
Circuit in Malaysia after his clash with Narain Karthikeyan of HRT.
In the next race at Shanghai International Circuit in China, he came fifth after qualifying for 11th place in the grid. Nonetheless, he secured pole and took the victory in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
Contrarily, the teammate of Vettel, Webber has shown the most consistent performance in the season until now as he has secured fourth place finishes in all the four races. The Australian driver is presently at third place in the drivers’ championship with
48 points.
Alternatively, Mercedes are at fifth place with 35 points in the constructors’ standings. Moreover, Rosberg is standing at 6th position in the drivers’ rankings after the first four races with 35 points. In addition, he took his first ever GP victory in
the third race in China and secured fifth place finish in the last race.
Conversely, Rosberg’s fellow citizen, Schumacher retired in two of the first four races this year and could only secure 2 points after finishing at 10th place in the second and the fourth race.
Nonetheless, both the teams are aiming to improve their performance after making the essential evaluations of their cars in the Mugello test so as to make the necessary advancements for the race ahead.
