Red Bull Racing burns midnight oil to meet deadlines
The double title winner of last season, Red Bull Racing is pushing hard these days in order to prepare the best car within the time limit.
The curtain raiser, Bahrain Grand Prix, is scheduled to take place this March while the first per-season test will kick off on February 1st. Earlier, the Austrian squad skipped the first pre-season test declaring that they wanted to hit the track only when
they were fully prepared. However, the team announced earlier this month that they were looking forward to have a sound first test in Valencia at the start of next month. The team assured that everyone in the factory was working quite hard to make sure that
they met the deadlines.
However, due to an extended 2010 season with 19 races on the calendar for the first time and a tough fight for the title that continued until the last race of the season, many teams are facing time constraints in their preparations for 2011 Formula One season.
McLaren and Force India have already announced to run the interim versions of their last season’s cars in the first session and launch their cars ahead of the second test that will be held on February 10th, 2011.
The team consultant Helmut Marko told the media earlier today that all the efforts are being made by the team to meet the time lines and to come up with the best possible car. The last two seasons have seen Red Bull dominating the tracks all through the
season. Both RB5 and RB6, designed by Adrian Newey were the fastest cars of the 2009 and 2010 seasons respectively.
While talking to the media about the up next chassis Marko said, "What I have seen of the car so far makes me optimistic. Last year Sebastian lost 66 points because of technical defects and we gave almost all of them to Fernando Alonso. If we can get rid
of the bad luck and mistakes of this year, we will defend the title."
Besides having the fastest package of last season, and being able to take 15 poles and 9 races, the team was not able to secure the title until the very end of the season. However, now Marko vows to iron out the errors of last year and enter the next grid
with a renewed spirit and a car that is an "evolution not a revolution" of the RB6.
