Red Bull Racing dominating Formula 1 since 2010
The Red Bull beverage company owns a Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing based in Milton Keynes, England holds an Austrian license.
The team has been very successful in the year 2010 and 2011. It was in these years that it was able to win two constructors’ championships and drivers’ championships.
The team is being managed by Christian Horner who is also a boss of the Arden International Gp2 series team. The cars use Renault engines and have had very good results from the powerful machines.
The 2010 year was the first year Red Bull claimed its first Constructors’ championship along with the drivers’ championship. The team retained its two drivers Sebastian Vettel the German and the Mark Webber the Aussie. It was also the year when Red Bull
came up with their RB6 which jumpstarted their dominance over other leaders of the sport like Ferrari and McLaren.
The year did not start as well as it ended for the team, at the Bahrain Grand Prix, although Vettel took pole position, he was not able to finish in the top three due to a spark plug failure in his car.
The second race of the season in Australia Vettel again started off dominantly but felt some vibration in the car and a few laps later and had to go off the track and retire. Then at the Malaysian GP Vettel came in third in qualifiers but came up trumps
at the race over taking his team-mate and pole holder Webber, and Nico Rosberg to win the first race of the 2010 season.
Red Bull kept their good performances in check and claimed pole positions in China, Spain and Monaco. Webber claimed his first GP win of the season at the Spain GP and maintaining his good form recorded another victory at the historical Monaco GP.
The team’s dominance was again at display at the Turkish Grand Prix, where Webber again took pole position and was in the lead in the race as Vettel was close behind trying to overtake the Aussie in a bid to claim a win. As Vettel tried to overtake Webber
he ended up crashing into his team-mate resulting in his retirement and Webber had to finish third.
The team kept the incident as low profile as they could, while it was not all that bad as it meant that both their drivers were showing good form and hunger to win. During the European Grand Prix Webber ended up crashing in the race allowing Vettel to go
for the win and he did exactly that claiming another victory for the Red Bull team.
At the second last race of the 2010 season in Brazil, Vettel along with Webber finished with a 1-2 position and gave the Red bull team its first Constructors title.
2011 started off with a win to the German driver Vettel at the Australian GP. It was the year Vettel really showed his dominance and potential for bigger things in the future as he won the Malaysian, Turkish, Spanish, Monaco, European, Belgian, Italian,
Singapore Korean and the Indian GP and finished the season with 11 wins. He performance throughout the season was so good that Red Bull recorded their Constructors’ Championship at the Korean GP.
It has been quite a performance from the Red Bull team and it will be even more interesting to see how the team performs in the 2012 season as it gears up its RB8 retaining its winning drivers Vettel and Webber.
