Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber can win his first championship title this year
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has performed tremendously well in the season so far and he has surely a big chance to win his first ever Formula 1 World Championship title this year.
At present, he is standing at second place in the drivers’ championship with 124 points. Moreover, he is just two points ahead of his teammate, Sebastian Vettel and is forty points behind the current leader in the rankings, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Although, he is still far behind the Spaniard, however, he has been deemed as a potential candidate in this year’s championship battle.
The Australian driver secured striking fourth place finishes in the first four grands prix and remained the most consistent point scorer. Later, he struggled with the lack of pace in the Spanish GP and could not score even a single point as he came 11th
after setting off from the same grid slot.
Nonetheless, he came back extremely well in the Monaco GP and claimed his first victory of the season. Later on, he secured 7th place finish in the Canadian GP after taking a start from the 4th grid position.
Afterwards, he showed an incredible pace in the European GP and secured 4th position after beginning from the 19th grid slot. Then, in the British GP, he performed strikingly well during the qualifying and snatched the victory from
Alonso during the ending laps of the race after starting from the second place in the grid.
However, unfortunately he faced difficulties during the German and Hungarian grands prix in which he could only secure 8th place finishes.
Furthermore, he expressed that he is feeling very much disappointed with his uncompetitive results in the last two races. In addition, he said that they need to make the essential advancement in their car so as to come up stronger in the forthcoming races.
It will be important to mention that he felt really unhappy because of modification in their engine map after they were criticised by FIA over the legality of RB8.
Nevertheless, he said that the changes in the engine of their car didn’t affect its performance during the last couple of races.
“We got some running in the wet and the dry, but we've got work to do,” Webber said. “I'm not super happy with that today, but it's good that it's only Friday. We seem to be going okay in some places, but losing time in others so we'll go through it tonight.
There's no change from the engine mapping amend.”
“I think it's incredibly boring for most people. All we can do is keep passing every single test and we have its not one-make series, you can design a car to the regulations and that's what we do,” the Aussie added.
Additionally, the team principal of Red Bull, Christian Horner said that they are not upset over the ongoing criticism and are positively looking forward to defend their championship title this year.
The defending champions are presently leading the constructors’ championship with 246 points and they have a reasonable lead over the other teams.
Furthermore, they are surely the most favourite contender in this season’s fight with their extraordinary talented drivers. Over and above, it will interestingly thrilling how they compete with their rivals in the approaching races after the summer break.
