Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber claims Singapore Grand Prix will be a battle – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has recently stated that the top four competitors for the drivers’ championship are not only going to aim for the win, but they will also be aiming to beat the rest of the competitors at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix.
“In the Championship, four of us - me, Fernando, Jenson and Lewis - are separated by just 14 points and none of us is going to give an inch,” said the Aussie.
Currently, Fernando Alonso is Vettel’s closest rival and according to the statistics, it is nearly impossible defeating the reigning world champion this year as he is the most consistent and reliable driver of the season.
If Vettel finishes a race, then he scores good points as well since he has a very strong car and has the capability of making the best out of the worse in many occasions.
As a result, Webber admitted that defeating the current championship leader is not going to be possible anymore but the race for the 2nd place in the drivers’ championship is still pretty much on and it is going to be
an interesting battle to watch the final 6 races of the season.
Nevertheless, he stated that the Singapore Grand Prix is going to be the right event for such a battle as it is the longest race of the season and it is definitely going to be quite challenging for the top running teams of the sport to get used to the street
nature of the Marina Bay track.
“It's also the longest race of the year, running close to the two-hour time-limit set by the FIA, and the intense heat and humidity makes it pretty warm in the cockpit. You have to watch your hydration during the build-up to the race,” he added.
The race is expected to take place this weekend and it is going to be an important race for the 4 championship competitors.
