Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber is looking forward to 2011 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that his first reaction to the result of recently held Korean Grand Prix was of disappointment, even though he helped his team win the 2011 constructors’ championship.
The Australian driver talking about his race in Korea and said, “It was good to finish one place higher than I started, but my initial reaction after the race was one of disappointment. I was frustrated that I didn’t get ahead of Lewis, but that’s normal
for a competitor.”
He went on to mention, “It was an intense battle and Lewis [Hamilton] didn’t make any mistakes. I might have had a chance to pass him if we’d done something different at my second pitstop, but the team brought me in on the same lap and we never found out
what my pace would have been like in clean air.”
The team driver also mentioned that even though it was predicted that the Yeongam circuit will be a tough on the tyres, it was not so. In addition, he stated that he even radioed his team during the race that he can do more than 33 laps on the tyres, but
the team wanted him to take a pit stop and so, he did.
The 35-year-old driver further added that both of RB7 cars were quick on different parts of the racetrack, especially on the exit corner. He has a good pace during the race, but was not able to overtake McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton until the end.
After getting the Korean race results, he is still determined to claim the second place position on overall standings for the 2011 championship battle.
He stated that he was not able to finish his 2010 Formula 1 season at the second position, but for this year he would like to finish the title fight at the second place for the team.
Talking about the first Indian Grand Prix in the sport, Webber said that the circuit looks to be an interesting one and that he is looking forward to the challenge.
The Indian Grand Prix will start from October 28, 2011 at the Buddh International Circuit, in Noida, India.
