Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber praises Buddh International Circuit – Formula 1 news
Red Bull driver Mark Webber has praised the outcome of the new Buddh International Circuit before the first practice session.
“The track's good, really good. They've been very creative with it, and it's got a good mixture of corners. What I like about it is the different width of it in areas, that's really good to test us, not to just have a fixed width all the way round the track,”
Webber said.
“Why not have the track changing in width a little bit here and there? I think it's good for us, gives us more options, even when you're not racing you've got to be on top of things there in terms of the line, so it's good,” he further added.
The circuit has been praised by everyone who have visited the track or had the chance to drive on it. The track has been designed especially to host the first-ever Indian Grand Prix by Hermann Tilke.
The track has a lot of variations and elevation changes and is a combination of slow corner and high speed stretches. Webber mentioned that the high average speed of the track has been well received by the drivers so far, but admitted that the changing width
of the track is going to be a testing aspect of the circuit.
He said that the track is actually designed for overtaking, the only concern is that it is quite dusty, although it will improve as the practice run takes place, but because there is not much chance of any rain, it will improve the track as the dust is removed.
Webber pointed to turn three of the track which he feels is the extreme one, and is very wide and because of the steep climb and then a table top at the top flattening out, so it quite similar to a motocross track without the dirt involved. But overall,
it is an interesting and amazing track.
The action begins on Sunday, October 30, 2011 which is going to mark a historic day for India as it will witness the first ever Grand Prix on Indian soil.
