Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber says he is not yet ready to quit F1 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that he is not yet ready to quit Formula 1 despite the speculations about his move to Porsche WEC team in 2014.
Webber is again surrounded by many reports which are suggesting that he is going to leave the Milton Keynes based squad at the end of this season and has already
decided to race with Porsche WEC team in the next year. However, he has completely dismissed all the reports and asserted that he has not yet made his decision about leaving the sport.
The Australian driver said that it is very important for a driver to decide the right time for retirement. Besides, he stated that he has discussed this issue with
some great sportsmen and sportswomen and expressed that it is very hard to see yourself quitting.
“You have to get the timing right,” Webber told the Red Bull website. “I’ve spoken to several great sportsmen and sportswomen about it, I know it’s a tough decision
to make – tough because you can see it as giving up. Quitting. And that’s completely opposite to your nature and the thing that got you to where you are.”
In addition, he said that it is not easy to make the retirement decision and he has not made any plan for it until now. But, he insisted that he will not be able
to see his 300th grand prix.
“It doesn’t fit comfortably with any of us. But I’m not there yet,” he said.
“No,” he replied when asked if he'd surpass 300 grands prix. “At the end of this year I should have… 215. 300? No way,” he added.
The Aussie has been considered as one of the most talented, hardworking and experienced drivers in the world of autosport. Even though, he has not been able to
win any championship in his career so far, but he has always raced with great passion.
Presently, he is standing at fifth place in the drivers’ championship with 32 points ahead of his main rival, Felipe Massa of Ferrari. Let’s see how he performs
in the season ahead.
