Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber says team is making good progress – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber says that the team is making good progress with its new car RB8 after having quite an encouraging day one of the last pre-season test at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.
During the first day of the final test Webber completed 102 laps and set the fourth fastest lap time of 1 minute 23.830 seconds.
Furthermore, after the second test at Barcelona, Webber stated that the team was making efforts to perform well in the forthcoming season and working at its best to make the considerable improvements.
“We are making progress, there's so many things to obviously consider,” Webber said. “When we have a pretty condensed winter programme like all the teams have you need to get your priorities right and work on those as best you can. That's when experience
comes in with the team like we have here, so it's going well in terms of what we want to test, but there's not enough hours of the day at the moment and I'm sure we're not the only team feeling that.”
Webber said that the teams are quite competitive in the upcoming F1 championship and the teams which will be successful in attaining the points in the first few races will definitely have an upper hand in the forthcoming season.
Furthermore, he expressed that there is no doubt that Red Bull and McLaren are the favourite teams for winning in the first Grand Prix at Melbourne, Australia and he said that the team is having quite positive feeling about this.
However, he stated that the team is not taking anything easy and keeping its focus on the things which still need improvements.
Webber said that that the season opener at Melbourne will be very crucial for the team but it is important that the team performs consistently well throughout the year in order to score points to win the championship.
Furthermore, Webber stated that the next three days of the final test will be very important for the team as there are certain areas which still need some work and testing the car will surely help in that matter.
