Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber urges team to improve its race pace – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team driver Mark Webber has said that his team should improve its race pace in order to finish ahead of Ferrari and McLaren.
RBR have an amazing qualifying pace as they have a perfect pole position scoring record so far in the 2011 Formula 1 season. Since their rivals have a better race pace, it becomes quite difficult for Webber and his teammate Sebastian Vettel to keep their
rivals behind them during the race. That is the main reason why RBR have not been able to secure a victory since the past two races in Britain and Germany.
Webber claims that he pushed as hard as he could during the German Grand Prix where he finished in 3rd place and beating Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton ahead of him was just not possible.
“I drove to the limit of the car. Of course, I was disappointed not to win, but we know we have to improve the car on Sundays. It's an area that has been brewing the last few races, and it is something we need to try to address soon,” said Webber.
Other than that, he claims that the 3rd place was the limit of the RB7 at the Nurburgring as McLaren and Ferrari were running much faster and since he started from pole position, he was quite disappointed with the results of the German Grand Prix.
“Is it the form for the second part of the championship? Difficult to say. We're going to go to a track which should be a bit better for us than the Nurburgring. Let's see. Sundays are more of a handful for us at the moment. Fernando was with us in Turkey
and Valencia, Lewis in Barcelona, but it's a bit early,” said the Australian driver.
Red Bull Racing are still in a very good position though in terms of both drivers’ and constructors’ standings as a result of which, these results do not affect them much. However, since Webber is competing for the drivers’ title as well, these results definitely
affect him as he wants to finish on top at each race in order to defeat his teammate in terms of points.
