Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel comfortable with drivers’ championship lead – Formula 1 news
The reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has recently stated that he is quite comfortable with his drivers’ championship lead as he just needs to finish the rest of the races in the 2011 with good points consistently.
“You can't assume you're going to have a car able to drive away from all the others for a whole season. I didn't win the last few races but we always did our best and scored (points) properly. It will be good as long as we continue like this,” he said.
Vettel is currently more than 80 points ahead of his closest rivals and even if he does not win races anymore in the 2011 Formula 1 season, he is going to win the title quite comfortably.
Since he is quite quick and he will be able to finish in at least the top 5 at the rest of the races if he finishes them without any problem, the only thing that can stop him from winning the championship this year is unreliability.
“There are still eight races and we have to make sure we are fighting every time. You can't win every time and it's certainly not a drama to not win two or three in a row,” said the reigning world champion.
However, another advantage that he has currently is that he has four other rivals who are now performing quite competitively since the past couple of races. It is believed that the next couple of races are going to be quite competitive as a result of which,
his rivals are not going to be able to finish each race consistently on podium either.
This means that his rivals will pretty much share podiums and points at each venue as a result of which they will not be able to catch up as efficiently as they might be expecting.
Therefore, Vettel is going to try his best to focus and just finish all of the races with good points and take the drivers’ title for the second time in a row with Red Bull Racing.
